How to clear your balance quicker and save money!

If you have an existing balance on your credit card you could pay off the balance faster and save money on interest by transferring the balance to a card that offers 0% interest on balance transfers during the promotion period or a low interest balance transfer deal for the life of the balance.

With a 0% balance transfer deal the whole amount of your repayments will go into paying off your balance as you will not be charged any interest. Therefore you will clear your balance quicker and save on interest charges. However the 0% promotional period on these deals normally lasts between 3 to 18 months, after which time the interest rate will revert to the standard rate. These deals are best if you are aiming to clear your balance in the shorter term.

Credit cards that offer a low interest balance transfer deal for the life of the balance are ideal if you plan on clearing your debt more slowly, say over several years. The low interest rate offered on transferred balances will stay until you have completely cleared that balance. More of your repayment amount will go into actually paying off your debt as you are being charged less interest, therefore you will clear your balance sooner and save money on interest.
